The Dirt Track Racing School (DTRS) offers students a chance to strap into an Open-Wheel Modified, Late Model, or Sprint Car for some high-powered, sideways fun in the dirt. The three different types of race cars offer several different choices for driving experiences, including a chance to drive all three types of cars for the ultimate dirt track experience.
The concept for the Dirt Track Racing School became a reality when the school held its first class on March 22, 2008 at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC.
In October 2012, the Dirt Track Racing School was purchased by Keith and Donna Frye, and the school's home track was moved to East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina. The school’s location in the Charlotte, NC area was carefully chosen based on its proximity to various race shops and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In addition to being in the heart of NASCAR country, DTRS is conveniently located only 30 minutes outside of uptown Charlotte and 45 minutes from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is also nearby.
Since the school began in 2008, students have come from over 40 states, Canada, England, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, Israel, and South Africa. Among the well-known students are NASCAR Sprint Cup star David Ragan, who has used the school to gain dirt track seat time for his roster of young David Ragan Inc. development drivers.
The school offers a variety of programs to match different budgets, with driving programs starting at $299. Prior to hitting the track, all students receive classroom introduction and are able to walk the racetrack with an experienced DTRS instructor.
The DTRS approach to driving is flexible and offers various programs to meet our customer's individual needs. In addition to the regular driving programs offered at the school, private classes, group outings, and unique corporate events are also available. Students may also choose to bring their own racecars for one-on-one instruction.
